Welcome Message

Welcome to our school and website. We hope that the site will give you a flavour of our school.

We have included lots of useful information about the school, the classes, the curriculum and the many exciting things that we do at school. You will also see some photographs of work, displays, events and learning experiences in our school.

We are part of the Derby Diocesan Academy Trust and enjoy the partnerships with other schools in the trust.

Our curriculum provides a broad range of opportunities. Children learn through themed topics, in which staff plan a variety of first hand experiences and use creative and imaginative teaching to make learning exciting and memorable. We have superb school grounds and enjoy learning outdoors as much as we can.

Our children are amazing. They are polite, respectful and welcoming, and we are proud of their achievements. The staff work incredibly hard to foster positive relationships with children, parents, visitors, the community and the parish. We can achieve great things by working together as a team. We are proud to be a church school and part of Derby Diocese.

We hope you enjoy looking at our website and find it useful. If you can not find the information you are looking for, please contact the school directly where someone will be happy to help.

Thank you for visiting.

Mrs Sarah Tew  (Acting Headteacher) and the team of staff and governors at Woodthorpe Church of England Primary School.

Recent Events In and Around School
Anti-Bullying Day 19.11.2020

We came to School in our odd socks today to celebrate what makes each individual unique. Children discussed how they could make others feel included, how to be a good friend and many more important topics based on the day's theme. Each class then produced lots of amazing work on the theme of anti-bullying.

Children In Need 13.11.2020

Children came to School in their pyjamas and comfy clothes today to raise money for Children in Need. The day was filled with lots of fun activities with children also spent time learning where the money raised goes and who it helps.

We managed to raise an incredible £145. Thank you all so much!

Remembrance Service 11.11.2020
The whole School took part in a Remembrance Service via video with children showing the pictures and poems they had created during the week. Class 3 and 4 did an excellent job of leading the service with readings and prayers. Mr Windsor, Miss Allen and a few of the Junior children laid the School's wreath at the Woodthorpe Memorial and took part in the two minute silence. Thank you to the local residents who also joined us for the distanced service.
