Vision and Values
Learning and growing together to be the best we can be.
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up."
1 Thessalonians 5:11
At Woodthorpe Church of England Primary School, our vision is rooted in the Christian belief that every person is uniquely valued and loved by God. Inspired by the words of St Paul, we strive to create a school community where everyone is encouraged, supported and empowered to flourish.
Our vision reflects our commitment to nurturing the whole child academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We aim to create a culture where children feel safe, respected and confident to be themselves, whilst developing the knowledge, skills and character needed to succeed in an ever-changing world.
Our vision is lived out through our CARE Code:
CARE
Care
We care for ourselves, one another and the world around us. We promote kindness, empathy, respect and understanding, encouraging our children to value diversity and recognise the importance of serving others.
Aspire
We inspire children to believe in themselves and their God-given potential. We encourage high aspirations, a love of learning and a determination to achieve their very best in all aspects of school life.
Resilience
We help children develop the confidence and perseverance to overcome challenges. Through encouragement and support, we teach children to learn from mistakes, embrace opportunities and never give up on their goals.
Enjoyment
We believe learning should be engaging, meaningful and enjoyable. We celebrate success, encourage curiosity and create memorable experiences that help children develop a lifelong love of learning.
At Woodthorpe we will:
- Encourage one another and build each other up in all that we do.
- Listen to and value the voices, opinions and experiences of every child.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, honesty, respect and good manners.
- Foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed, valued and respected.
- Teach children to recognise and challenge discrimination, prejudice and injustice.
- Inspire children to become confident, independent and reflective learners.
- Provide engaging and enriching opportunities that develop curiosity and a love of learning.
- Encourage children to be ambitious, courageous and proud of their achievements.
- Support children to develop empathy, compassion and understanding towards others.
- Work together as a school family, celebrating our differences and strengths.
- Help children develop the resilience and confidence needed to overcome challenges.
- Prepare children to make a positive contribution to their local, national and global communities.
Through our Christian vision and CARE values, we aim to nurture children who are compassionate, aspirational, resilient and joyful learners, equipped to make a positive difference in the world around them.
